Vondelpark in Amsterdam

Vondelpark is my absolute favorite place in Amsterdam. I seem to share this preference with the locals. One of the reasons Vondelpark is so popular is that it’s located right in the city center. Here, locals and tourists co-exist in perfect harmony. People of all ages come here to relax. While tourists ride around with their rented Mac bikes, the locals bring their dogs for a walk, meet with friends, do jogging, or simply read a book lying on the grass.

On sunny weekends the park bursts with life. It doesn’t matter if it’s Summer or Winter. Although on Sundays the park is often crowded, it’s really peaceful. Dutch people have mastered how to combine individual freedom along with respect for the others. Vondelpark is the perfect example of how tolerant the dutch can be. Among the many things allowed here you can sunbathe naked or even smoke a joint. People just go about their business without disrespect one another.
